If “you had me at the first half” was a cigar, it would be this one.
This was part of the selections included from Cigars International’s Po’ Boy Sampler. The choice to purchase the sampler pack was good. But this was the weakest smoke of the bunch.
Pre-light: The aroma is like molasses and fresh bread and had a good draw.
The cigar had a smooth, buttery taste to start with. There were subtle oak notes to it. But, at the halfway point, all the charm disappeared. It started feeling like an oil slick in my mouth and started tasting almost swampy. (Not that I have rolled up to a swamp for a tasty drink, but you get the idea.)
Even cleansing my palette with a yummy drink didn’t work.
Very disappointing. It started off so strong but then it petered out. It was like watching a horse race where your horse was winning and then it stopped to relieve itself. Yes. I am fond of horse analogies…
The cigar that could have been so very good was one that I couldn’t even finish. It received the rare Snub Out of Shame during the last third.
